Astoria Man Charged with Murder in Deadly Attack on Retired Teacher in Queens

A violent feud in Astoria turned deadly on March 3, when 48-year-old Dimitrios Manessis allegedly killed 75-year-old George Dourdounas in a brutal attack. Police say the deadly incident was the culmination of a long-standing dispute between the two men.

Police were called to an apartment building at 1:40 p.m. on March 3rd, at 25-75 33rd Street. On arrival, police located 75-year-old George Dourdounas lying in the lobby with multiple slash wounds to his neck. EMS confirmed he had died at the scene.

Police later took Manessis into custody for questioning. While the ongoing feud between the men is known, the exact motive behind the killing has not yet been released.

Manessis has been charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Investigators continue to gather details as the case moves forward.
