Bjana James, 37, was found dead in her apartment in the Bronx’s Betances Houses on March 20th. The last time anyone heard from Bjana was on March 16th when she texted a friend about her boyfriend’s unusual behavior.

According to reports, the mother of two was located deceased on her couch at approximately 2:30 am with her throat slit and a knife left resting on her chest. The victim’s children were not home at the time of the attack.

Police have not named the victim’s boyfriend, however, the victim’s mother said her daughter was living with an ex-con who was a friend since the two attended elementary school together. No arrests have been made at this time.

Update March 21
Police said Nashan Walsh, 35, was arrested at Lincoln Hospital, where he was being treated for drug use after allegedly assaulting EMS workers. Walsh is facing murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon charges in relation to the homicide of Bjana James.
