Police in the Bronx are investigating a suspected homicide after a man’s decomposed body was discovered inside a Longwood residence on June 3.
Police were called to a two-story home on Longfellow Avenue after a resident reported a strong odor that had lingered for several days. Construction workers renovating the building were asked to check on a neighboring apartment and reportedly spotted the body through a window.
According to investigators, the victim was found lying on a bed in an advanced state of decomposition with a knife still lodged in his chest. Emergency responders later entered the apartment and pronounced him dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet publicly identified the victim or determined his exact age.
Detectives are now focusing on the victim’s roommate, who has been identified as a person of interest in the case. Neighbors told police they had heard arguments coming from the apartment in the weeks leading up to the discovery.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing. Police have released a description of the person of interest, who was last seen wearing a black shirt, dark pants, and sneakers.

Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers.
