Danny Quiles charged in the beating death of Arthur Fleschner over a cart of recyclable cans at a Brooklyn supermarket

NYPD responded to a 911 report of an altercation at the can recycling station at the Associated supermarket located at 103 Hegeman Ave. in Brownsville on December 4th.

According to reports Danny Quiles, 52, and Arthur Fleschner, 60, became involved in an argument over a shopping cart of recyclable cans just after 9:00am. Quiles allegedly punched Fleschner several times and knocked him to the ground. Police said after Fleschner collapsed in the street, Quiles dragged him onto the sidewalk, before fleeing the scene.

Fleschner was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he died on December 8th.

Police arrested Quiles on December 11th and charged him with criminally negligent homicide, assault, and manslaughter.
