NYPD said Davon Venable, 30, was fatally shot at the door to his apartment at 691 FDR Drive, at approximately 9:57pm on January 14th.

According to amny.com, Venable who was with his father at the time heard heard a knock on the door, followed by an unknown individual outside asking, “Did someone call for an Uber?” Venable answered the door and was shot.

He was rushed to Mount Sinai-Beth Israel Medical Center where he died of his injuries.

Police have released a video of the suspect who fled the scene on an ebike.

Update July 29th
Jeffrey Faustin, 28, was charged with the murder of Davon Venable, 30, on July 26th. Police said Faustin was already in federal custody on an unrelated weapons charge when he was also charged with the murder of Venable.
