NYPD responded to a to a 911 call for assistance at a home at 1515 West Sixth Street on MAy 6th at approximately 10:15am.

Police located 18-year-old Damaris Maravilla suffering from body trauma in a bed at the address. She was pronounced at the scene, her cause of death not yet determined, however,

According to NBC New York “According to the complaint, Diaz allegedly wrapped his arm around Maravilla’s neck and squeezed until she lost consciousness. He viciously sexually assaulted her, then grabbed her by the neck and snapped her neck, all while she was still blacked out, court documents allege.”

Maravilla was the mother of a 6-month-old baby whom she shared with Dylan Diaz, 26.

Diaz was taken into custody at the scene and charged with second degree murder. He is being held without bail at Rikers Island pending a return court appearance on May 11th.
