NYPD responded to a shooting inside what police called an illegal club, at 5002 3rd Avenue, shortly after 5 a.m. on November 17th . Officers from the 72nd Precinct responded to a 911 call reporting an assault.

When they arrived, they found 31-year-old Giovanni Rivera, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his back and torso. He was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn, where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators said 27-year-old Gabriel Hernandez was taken into custody. He has been charged with manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
