James Gaines, 46, Fatally Shot in the Neck at Bronx Intersection

On August 22 at around 5:51 p.m., officers from the 42nd Precinct responded to a report of a shooting at the corner of East 164th Street and Washington Avenue. When they arrived, they found 46-year-old James Gaines with a gunshot wound to the neck.

Emergency medical services arrived quickly and transported Gaines, who was in critical condition, to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln. Despite efforts to save him, he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
