NYPD said 18-year-old Kimberly Olmos was discovered around 12:45 a.m. on November 2 in the Harborview Terrace complex at 520 West 55th Street.
Officers arrived after receiving a 911 report of an assault in progress and located Olmos in a stairwell with a gunshot wound to the head. She was rushed to Mount Sinai Morningside, where she was pronounced deceased.
18-year-old Abdel Velazquez, was arrested in December and faces charges of weapons possession and tampering with evidence.
Update: A 16-year-old boy was arrested on January 9th 2026, and is facing manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and weapons possession charges for the death of Kimberly Olmos.
