NYPD responded to reports of a shooting outside 57-18 108th St. at around 8:40 p.m. on Dec. 11th.
On arrival, police located two men suffering from gunshot wounds on the sidewalk near 108th Street Grocery—one 27-year-old and one 28-year-old.
Emergency responders transported the 28-year-old victim, who was identified as Oliver Nava, to Queens Hospital Center, where he was listed in stable condition. The 27-year-old was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in critical condition but later died from his injuries.
According to police sources, the surviving victim has been largely uncooperative with investigators, and detectives are still working to determine what led up to the shooting. No arrests have been made, and authorities have not released a description of a suspect as the investigation remains active.
