The city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner says the remains belong to Christina G. Purdie, a 27-year-old woman from the South Midwood area of Brooklyn. Authorities have confirmed the case is a homicide.
Police said her remains were discovered on Aug. 6th by city transportation workers in a grassy area along the westbound Jackie Robinson Parkway near Highland Boulevard, within the 104th Precinct in Ridgewood. Police say the remains were wrapped in a black garbage bag. In the weeks following the discovery, the NYPD released images of distinctive jewelry and a rose tattoo on her body to help with identification.
Investigators have not released further details, including when Purdie was reported missing or how she was killed, citing the ongoing investigation. Police are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
