NYPD were called to the park near 86th Street and 14th Avenue at approximately 1:54 p.m. after multiple 911 callers reported that two men had been stabbed.
On arrival police located 21-year-old Manuel Estanislao Chox Choc suffering from multiple stab wounds. A second victim, a 30-year-old man, was also found injured. Both men were transported to Maimonides Medical Center for treatment.
Despite life-saving efforts, Chox Choc was pronounced dead at the hospital. The second victim remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Investigators believe the violence may have been connected to a gang-related dispute that escalated into a knife fight. A person of interest was detained at the scene and remains in police custody while detectives continue their investigation. No formal charges have been announced.
The investigation into the deadly stabbing remains ongoing.
