Two people have been indicted in connection with the death of 3-year-old Kyng Davis, whose death was ruled a homicide caused by prolonged child abuse, blunt force injuries, starvation, and dehydration.
Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced that Kyng’s mother, 25-year-old Sunshyne Davis, and 39-year-old Robert White are facing charges including second-degree murder, manslaughter, and endangering the welfare of a child. Prosecutors allege the pair failed to protect the young boy and instead subjected him to ongoing abuse and neglect that ultimately led to his death.
According to investigators, the defendants brought Kyng to SUNY Downstate Medical Center on March 9, 2025, where he was pronounced dead. After speaking with hospital staff, they allegedly left the hospital before police arrived. An autopsy later determined the child died from child abuse, citing blunt force trauma, starvation, and dehydration.
The indictment also expands on earlier allegations against White, who had previously been charged with assault for allegedly beating the child after he had an accident. Davis remains jailed without bail, while White is expected to be arraigned at a later date. The case remains pending in Brooklyn Supreme Court.
