A tragic shooting in Brooklyn late Thursday night left one man dead and another injured, according to police.

On June 26th at around 10:40 p.m., NYPD responded to reports of a shooting near 9323 Avenue L in the Canarsie neighborhood. When they arrived, they discovered two men who had been shot.

One of the victims, identified as 21-year-old Mitch Innocent from Elmont, had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. A 25-year-old man had been shot in the leg. Both were transported by EMS to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center.

Sadly, Innocent did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The second victim is expected to recover and was listed in stable condition Friday morning. Police continue to investigate the incident.
