Brooklyn Shooting Leaves 21-Year-Old Dead, Another Man Injured in Canarsie

Just before 10:45 p.m. on Thursday, officers from the 69th Precinct responded to reports of a shooting near 9323 Avenue L. When they arrived, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

One of the victims, 21-year-old Mitch Innocent of Elmont, had been shot in the head. A 25-year-old man was also wounded, sustaining a gunshot to the leg.

Both were rushed to One Brooklyn Health–Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center by emergency responders. Tragically, Innocent was pronounced dead at the hospital. The second victim is currently in stable condition.

Police have not yet released information about a suspect or motive. The investigation is ongoing.
