Police were called to America’s Best Wings and Pizza on Rockaway Avenue shortly after midnight on Aug. 23 following a report of an assault inside the restaurant.
When officers arrived, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. A 44-year-old restaurant employee had been shot in the head, while a 39-year-old man was wounded in the right leg.
Both victims were taken to Brookdale Hospital by emergency medical crews. The employee later died from his injuries. Police have not yet released his name, pending notification of his family. The second victim is expected to survive.
Investigators have not identified a suspect or determined what led to the shooting.
