NYPD responded to a ShotSpotter alert and a 911 call reporting gunfire near Crescent Street shortly before 10 p.m. on Aug. 21. When police arrived, they found an unidentified adult man suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest and right side.
Paramedics rushed the victim to Brookdale University Hospital in critical condition. Despite efforts to save him, he later died from his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Detectives have not announced any arrests. Investigators are reportedly looking for a person who was seen fleeing the area in a black Lexus immediately after the shooting. The direction the vehicle traveled remains unknown.
The investigation is ongoing, and police have not released additional information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
