A 47-year-old Brooklyn man, Mauricio Granda, has been charged with killing his59-year-old wife, Maria Ines Granda, who was found dead in their home on September 14th.
Authorities say she suffered fatal blunt-force trauma to the head, allegedly after being struck with a tool.
The case took another turn when Mauricio’s 74-year-old mother, Yolanda Granda Trevino, was also arrested and charged with assault and harassment. It is unclear who she allegedly assaulted, but a judge issued an order of protection against her.
Police initially went to the couple’s home for a wellness check after the victim’s son called. The son later helped police locate Mauricio in his mother’s car near 7th Avenue and 52nd Street. He recognized the car by its license plates, saw Mauricio inside, and contacted the police.
