A fatal shooting unfolded in Hunts Point on Sunday night, September 13, after police received a 911 call reporting that someone had been shot outside an apartment building at 1275 Lafayette Ave.
Officers from the NYPD’s 41st Precinct responded to the location at approximately 7:49 p.m. When they arrived, they discovered 29-year-old Luis Cano with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to Lincoln Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The shooting was among several incidents of gun violence reported across the Bronx and Queens that night, with five people shot and one person killed.
