A 30-year-old man was fatally shot early morning on August 9th at the Canarsie Pier in Brooklyn, police said.
John Garvin was shot multiple times in the head and chest shortly after 3:15 a.m. near the Belt Parkway. Investigators believe the shooting may have followed a dispute at the scene.
Garvin was rushed by medics to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police said he lived only a few blocks from the pier.
Hours after the shooting, members of Garvin’s family gathered at the scene. Witnesses described an emotional moment as one grieving woman sat near a large pool of blood while another woman held her.
The family declined to comment to reporters.
Police have not announced any arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
