According to police, the 58-year-old man entered the 77th Precinct early in the morning on October 13, covered in blood, and confessed to the crime. Officers responded to a nearby apartment on Troy Avenue, where they found a 56-year-old man dead inside, with multiple stab wounds to his chest and arms.
Investigators recovered a kitchen knife and a pair of scissors at the scene. Bloody footprints were also found in the hallway, suggesting a struggle.
The man who turned himself in is believed to have lived in the same apartment as the victim. He was taken into custody and brought to a hospital for evaluation. Authorities believe the two men knew each other, though a motive has not yet been confirmed.
The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of family. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
