NYPD were called to a stabbing at around 7:30 p.m. on August 5 inside the Williamsbridge Oval Playground.
On arrival police located 14-year-old Angel Mendoza, suffering from stabbing injuries. He was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.
NYPD said four teens have been arrested in connection with the stabbing. The suspects include 18-year-old Andrew Ansah of West Mosholu Parkway South, 18-year-old Jordan Williams of Reservoir Oval East, and two other boys, ages 15 and 16, whose names were not released due to their age. All four face charges including murder, manslaughter, gang assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.
Police also reported that a second victim, a 17-year-old boy, later arrived at Montefiore Medical Center with stab wounds to his abdomen and shoulder. He is currently in stable condition and is expected to be transferred to Jacobi Hospital for further surgery. During the investigation, officers recovered a knife from the scene.
