NYPD said the incident happened shortly before 1:50 a.m. on August 2 at the Throggs Neck Houses, located at 2765 Sampson Avenue.

Responding to a 911 call, officers from the 45th Precinct and NYPD PSA 8 discovered a 23-year-old man who had been shot in the chest. He was transported by EMS to Jacobi Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities are withholding his identity until his family has been notified.
