NYPD Officers from the 46th Precinct responded to an apartment at 38 Featherbed Lane around 9:39 a.m. on Jan. 17 after relatives of a 50-year-old woman requested a welfare check.
When police entered the apartment, they found Susan Longton lying on her back in her bedroom, where she was later pronounced dead. Responding personnel observed visible injuries to her head and body, and sources indicated she had bruising on her face, arms, and knees.
At this time, investigators have not officially labeled the case a homicide. The exact cause of death will be determined following an examination by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
