NYPD responded to a 911 call around 7:48 p.m. on August 6, reporting a shooting at the Hammel Houses NYCHA complex in Rockaway Beach.

When officers arrived at the scene they found a 39-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds across his body.

Emergency responders transported the victim to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name, pending family notification, but sources indicate he was known to law enforcement.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and police have not released a description of the shooter. The investigation remains ongoing.
