NYPD responded to an assault in progress at around 9:45 p.m. on Aug. 23 in front of an auto repair shop on Merrick Boulevard.
When officers arrived, they found Jose Scott suffering from multiple stab wounds to his back and abdomen, along with several other lacerations. Emergency medical crews transported Scott to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Scott was reportedly discovered by his mother, lying bloodied on the sidewalk outside their home.
No arrests had been made, and investigators had not released a description of a possible suspect.
