Queens man fatally stabs his wife and 2-year-old daughter before stabbing himself

NYPD said Ernesto Cruz, 54, of 63-35 Forest Avenue, was arrested on July 19th and charged with two counts of murder for fatally stabbing his Ana Pilatagsi-Moposita, 41, and their daighter Analiz Cruz, 2, before stabbing himself in what police said was a suicide attempt.

Reports indicate that Cruz was on a FaceTime call with his nephew when he suddenly grabbed a kitchen knife and began stabbing his family. It was the nephew who contacted police and directed them to the family’s home in Ridgewood.

Cruz was taken by EMS to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition. The injured woman was also transported to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead. Meanwhile, EMS brought the 2-year-old child to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where she was also listed in critical condition and later pronounced dead.

Ernesto Cruz has since been charged with two counts of murder.
