On the morning of Monday, September 25, 2025, NYC Sanitation workers were removing trash near Brookville Boulevard and 149th Avenue, along the eastern edge of Idlewild Park.

While lifting a garbage bag, one worker noticed a bad smell and inspected the contents. Inside the bag, they discovered the remains of a woman’s torso.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is now working to determine:

• The woman’s identity
• The cause and time of death
