Authorities say the incident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. on July 8th near the intersection of Southern Boulevard and Westchester Avenue. Police responded after receiving a 911 call reporting an assault in progress.
On arrival, 18-year-old Shannon Kelsey was found with a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to the hospital, where he later died. Police said a 15-year-old boy suffered a cut to his lip and is reported to be in stable condition.
Update: On July 11, Travis Profit, 38, was arrested and charged with murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, three counts of assault, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Police continue to search for a second suspect. He is described as medium complexion, a large build and a bald head. He was last seen wearing a gray tank top and blue shorts.
