NYPD said on Aug 23rd just before 7:30 p.m., a large crowd had gathered at the intersection of Burke Avenue and Wickham Avenue to watch the game when shots rang out.
Officers from the NYPD’s 47th Precinct responded to multiple 911 calls reporting heavy gunfire and several people injured.
When police arrived, they discovered two victims: 32-year-old Jaceil Banks, shot in the chest and a 17-year-old girl who had been struck in the face. Emergency responders quickly transported both victims to Jacobi Hospital. Tragically, the man did not survive.
A 16-year-old boy is the youngest suspect charged in connection with the gang-related shooting. He is facing multiple charges, including four counts of attempted murder, gang assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. A 17-year-old boy is also facing the same charges. Due to their ages, authorities have not released their identities.
