NYPD responded to the report that a fight broke out among several people in the roadway in front of Wanda Deli on Elliot Place shortly before 5 p.m on July 25th.
Police arrived to find three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. 12-year-old Jacob Freytes, was shot in the shoulder and later died at Lincoln Hospital. Police said the child, who was the son of a retired NYPD officer, does not appear to have been the intended target.
A 34-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the foot, while a 25-year-old man was struck in the buttocks. Both men were treated at BronxCare Health System and were reported to be in stable condition.
William Ferrer, 45, was arrested on July 26 and is facing multiple charges, including murder, two counts of attempted murder, manslaughter, six counts of assault, and three counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
